Abstract: An analysis of the present state and tendencies in the aerospace research in Ukraine in the last decade is presented, par The development of basic scientific trends in the remote sensing of the Earth (RSE) is described. The RSE systems operating in Ukraine at present and the systems to be launched in the framework of the new National Space Program of Ukraine (2003–2007) are overviewed. We also analyze the practice and achievements of Ukraine's RSE-in-volved agencies in comparison with basic world's tendencies in the modern development of this research trend. Some managerial measures aimed at broader acquaintance of potential users with the feasibility of RSE data applications, commercialization of this activity, and further participation of Ukraine in joint international and interstate RSE projects are proposed.
