Abstract:
Observations of the 2002 strongest magnetic storm were performed. The solar flare preceding the storm is described. The magnetometer data derived at the Kharkiv V. Karazin National University Radiophysical Observatory were wavelet-transformed. The signal amplitude is revealed to increase by a factor of 30 during the storm, but the wavelet coefficients increased by one to two orders of magnitude. A significant spreading of the wavelet-spectrum was observed.
