Abstract: 
We give a brief review of the basic results of the numerical, experimental and full-scale investigations performed in the department of "Rarefied Gas Dynamics" of the Institute of Technical Mechanics of the National Academy of Sciences and National Space Agency of Ukraine for the last 35 years.
