Abstract:
The determined-chaos phenomenon in the dynamics of space tethered systems is studied by the numerical integration of the model problem equations of motion of an orbital pendulum with a periodically varying boom length. The energy variations in the pendulum oscillations are estimated and of individual trajectories and their sets are qualitatively analysed. A mechanical image of random regimes of motion is constructed, and it is used to analyse the essence of the phenomenon.
